46-year-old man identified as Mario Fowler shot and killed, and a 23-year-old man grazed by a bullet in the Bronx, New York, on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Wednesday morning at approximately 5:23 am, police responded to 364 East 170 Street. Upon arrival officers found 46-year-old Mario Fowler, inside the location, with gunshot wounds to both legs. EMS responded and transported him to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

First homicide of the year. It happened around 2 AM on Curtis Street. A male in his 20s was found shot died on scene

Two men stabbed amidst a verbal dispute at West 49th and 8th Avenue in Manhattan. Two men were involved in a verbal dispute which escalated to a stabbing. One of the men was stabbed to the side of his stomach and one male was stabbed to the hand. Both individuals involved were taken into custody and both were listed in stable condition. The incident happened at approximately 2:00am New Year’s Day. One of the individuals in custody was seen in the ambulance with his hands behind his back as he was being checked out by EMS personnel.

At approximately 7:16 PM at 1060 E 105 Street, a 23-year-old man was shot in the head and foot, A 62-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, a 20-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were pistol whipped. Police are investigating after six people were shot in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx on Monday evening just before 5 p.m. in the area of White Pains Road. A 12-year-old girl, her 40-year-old mother, and four men who range in age from 18-21 were all shot. Police say the shooting was a brazen, targeted attack and that the mother was used as a shield by one of the intended targets of the shooting. Two suspects are being sought by the NYPD. No motive is known for the shooting attack.
