24-year-old Jaia Cruz was in handcuffs and transported by the NYPD from the 28 Precinct after being charged in allegedly stabbing a USPS postal worker to death in a deli while working in Harlem, Manhattan, New York on Thursday, January 2, 2024. Thursday afternoon at approximately 2:38 PM, police responded to a 911 call for an assault inside of 168 Lenox Avenue.

USPS postal worker stabbed to death in a deli while working in Harlem, Manhattan, New York, inside of 168 Lenox Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed a 36-year-old man victim identified as Ray Hodges with multiple stab wounds about the body. EMS responded and transported the man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead. 24-year-old Jaia Cruz, a female was arrested and charged in the case. Crime scene investigators spent several hours on scene and at the police station where Jaia Cruz was arrested.

Two men stabbed amidst a verbal dispute at West 49th and 8th Avenue in Manhattan. Two men were involved in a verbal dispute which escalated to a stabbing. One of the men was stabbed to the side of his stomach and one male was stabbed to the hand. Both individuals involved were taken into custody and both were listed in stable condition. The incident happened at approximately 2:00am New Year’s Day. One of the individuals in custody was seen in the ambulance with his hands behind his back as he was being checked out by EMS personnel.
