Queens South Homicide Detectives search for evidence in trash containers located in the parking lot of the apartment complex after police find a man's body which was reported to be stuffed into garbage bags under a bed in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens, New York. The 55-year-old man identified as Jose Portillo is discovered after NYPD responded to an apartment building at 137-17 70th Avenue for a welfare check. Police made the discovery after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 and Portillo was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. There are no arrests at this time.
